Cameron, J. (2021). Nobody does shipping logistics better than Amazon. The New York Times.

1. Summary

Nowadays, the meaning of this term 'Getting There' has changed from 'moving' to 'get something in front of one's house'.

One of these change-makers is 'Amazon', which has been able due to the remarkable technology development, along with its own business management. With increasing amounts of orders, Amazon hired many people, but this article pointed out there would be few people to work there with 40,000 dollars a year.

Recently, Amazon has relased its own fleet for deliveries, with 85 jets rented, which means they are going to develop their business bigger. Therefore, getting our things home has been made by Amazon, in detail, its logistics.

2. Comments

In fact, I didn't know what 'Amazon' is, just thinking of it as a shopping mall. And I was so shocked of its payment to its employees, which I think was smaller than they work.

And I love the phrase, 'hiring binge', which emphasized their senseless employment.

After reading this, 'Coupang', the most popular delivery mall in Korea, just came up to my mind. There was once a controversy of its excessively harsh workload of its employees. Even there was some who passed away because of it.

Getting things faster would be good to customers, but thinking of its harsh work behind, I think this situation should be changed. And the most important part is the bad perception to delivermen, considering them as a lower level.

If this perception would be changed first, other following things can be changed sometime in the future.
