Hi, everyone. Today, I am Yebin Song and I am going to present about AI and Blockchain in medicine.

The title of TED video which I am going to introduce to you is ‘How blockchain and AI can help us decipher medicine’s big data’. The table of contents of today’s presentation is, first, I am going to tell you about this TED talk’s presenter. Second, the summary of this TED talk. And finally, I am going to talk about my opinion.

First, I am going to talk about this presenter, Gunjan Bhardwaj.

Gunjan Bhardwaj who presented this TED talk, is an expert in technology and medicine. And he wrote numerous journals and articles and also lectured a lot, which are all about these topics. This video was presented in November of 2018. The main idea he was emphasizing was 'AI and Blockchain would be the only solution in this information-overload society.'

Second, we would see what he said in his TED talk.

His presentation starts with his friend's call, and it was a bad news that he got a cancer. Of course, if we are sick, we have to get the best treatment. But his friend couldn't. This made the presenter three curiosities in that situation. First one is, what would be the alternative treatment. Second one is, where I can access to, and the third is who is in charge of this situation.

Because of his friend's cancer, he got to realize that there are enormous amount of information in healthcare. There are two reasons, first, the amount of data increased each year. You might not expect how much it is, but each year, the amount of data gets increased even 32 times! And also, there is a huge increase in publications. From newspapers, journals, magazines to lots of researches in universities! These two factors resulted in mountains of data.

These mountains of data caused data monopolies. A large companies could use labors to extract important information in this information-overloaded society. But small companies couldn't. This caused data monopolies, which information can be used depending on wealth of individuals or companies.

So in this situation, presenter emphasizes that AI and blockchain are the possible solution in this information-overload society. AI and blockchain are useful not only for collecting and sharing data, but also for extracting data. They can collect published information, but also can collect non-published ones, such as ones that you might uploaded on your blog or hompage of your university. So this can cause lots of information, and you can also share them! And they are also useful for extracting data, finding what we want, such as searching engines. The more we push relevant data in, the more relevant result we get. These show that these two technologies are very useful in this information-overload society.

Lastly, I would tell you my opinion.

First, I think AI and blockchain are used a lot in different ways nowadays. For example, searching engines in Google, algorithms in Youtube for recommending next related videos, and AI technology in applications for shopping. They recommend clothes we want. Second, in regard to his presentation, he used unique accents. I think it is because he worked in Germany. But it was a littlbe bit difficult for me to understand clearly. Lastly, I could think about how big the impact of Big Data in our life. It is used in our everyday life! This made me think about the effect of 4th Industrial Revolution in our life.
