Ch.5 Chronological Order: Process Essays

1. Chronological Order

- 시간 순서대로 개념 정리

  → 이야기를 말하거나, 역사적인 사건을 관련지을 때나, 전기 혹은 자서전 작성

- process 혹은 procedure이라고 설명

  ex) 사진을 어떻게 찍는지, 도자기를 어떻게 만드는지, 화학 실험을 어떻게 수행하는지, 회계 시스템을 어떻게 설치하는지

2. Three keys to organizing a process essay

1) 사건이 발생한 시간대로 에세이 전개

2) thesis statement : 과정 혹은 시간 순 담기

   - time order을 드러내주어야 함 → the process of, the procedure for, plan, develop, evolve, five stages, several phases

   - 과정의 단계, 단계 이름 명시 → ex) There are three steps, A, B and C.

3) chronological order signal words를 이용해 시간 과정 나타내기

 

3. Transition signals for chronological order

- 시간 순서가 정말 중요하기 때문에, before인지, after인지, at the same time인지 파악

→ first, first of all, second, third

     then, next, after that, soon, later, later on, finally, last, last of all

     meanwhile, at the same time, now, gradually, eventually
